The process for ordering gear is in transition, and this wiki is being edited to reflect those changes. This process will be finalized in mid-January 2013.

Overview

At Mozilla, the purpose of gear is to empower and reward Mozillians by enabling them to be strong advocates for our brand. This isn’t typical “corporate" swag — it’s a statement of your dedication to building a better Web.

At Mozilla, we see gear as a very valuable tool (and not just because it costs $$$). Mozilla gear tells the world that you're part of the Mozilla community and serves as recognition of all of your hard work in keeping the web open. (Which, by the way, is why we're using the term 'gear' rather than 'merch' or 'swag'...those words imply the types of throwaway items you'd get at a trade show or event. We want our stuff to have more meaning than that.)

How to Get and Give Gear

1. Get the Background: Review the approved uses and the types (and pictures) of gear available.

2. Check your Budget: before placing an order, check with your Team Gear Coordinator to ensure there is still a sufficient amount with your team's allocation.

3. File a Bug: Gear bugs can be filed TBD. For information on the exact steps to complete the bug, please see TBD.

Access

You will need a Bugzilla account in order to file your gear bug. You can request gear with the bug as long as your needs fit within the guidelines outlined here and are within your team's gear allocation.

Last Minute Requests

If you need gear within the week, please indicate so on the bug and we will try to assist you from within your space. Here's more information on the process to obtain gear from your Mozilla space.

Vouchers

Want to extend the opportunity for a volunteer Mozillian on your team to receive gear? Please fill out this form to request that your Team Gear Coordinator extend a voucher to the individual you have identified. More information on vouchers can be found here.

Custom Orders

Need to do a custom order? Contact the gear team at gearteam at mozilla dot com.

Inappropriate Site Usage

  • The Gear Store isn't for personal use (in other words, ordering shirts for your team as a morale booster is ok...ordering a shirt just because you want one for yourself isn't).
  • Don't order gear without a specific purpose or objective in mind - think about why your team might need it, what purpose it would serve at an event, etc.
  • Don't order more than you need, and please don't stockpile.
  • Don't order gear for those who are not paid staff + Mozillians + friendly visitors + attendees at Mozilla events.
