UX Team Priorities for Firefox 3.7
- New Theme for Windows, OS X, Linux (shorlander + everyone)
- Home Tab and App Tabs (limi, faaborg)
- Places improvements (faaborg)
- Tab matching in AwesomeBar + retiring the old URL dialog (limi)
- Notifications (faaborg)
- Prefs cleanup (faaborg, limi, boriss)
- Extension manager redesign (boriss)
- Download Manager + MIME type improvements (limi)
- PDF in-browser display (limi, for now)
- Mac installer improvements (limi)
- Better animation and affordances, especially when dragging tabs (boriss, shorlander)
- Eradicate startup dialogs (faaborg)
No direct UI changes, but improves the general user experience:
- Resource Packages (limi with vlad)
Nice-to-haves:
- Theme change for private browsing mode
- Turn off unneeded system level notifications (growl, toast) users don't need real time updates about updates
- Session restore improvements (limi, faaborg)
- about:support, about: completion (limi)
- Reduce UI and amount of menus (everyone :)
- Zoom indicator (limi
- Recently closed tabs in tabs pulldown + deemphasize (remove?) visible tabs (limi)
- "Paste and go"? (limi)
- Greater control of plugins (Always load / on click / never)
- Can we get rid of "Work Offline" now? Also make sure that localhost is never offline.
Polish areas: Note that we should be using the polish whiteboard terms and target field in bugzilla to generate this list
- Tab switching shortcuts still missing on Mac. This is the most common complaint I hear from Safari users.
- Safari parity: reload unsuccessful pages when network returns
